Whoosh! went the candle Slam! went the door! Suddenly I had the feeling I'd been here before! This house that I'd been Beckoned to... Seemed quite familiar now Yet I seemed oddly Out of place And... Who were these people In my space? ? ! ! I felt they did not quite belong And yet decided... To get along Until fate...decided...fate!

I strolled the halls... Explored the rooms Discovered dampened catacombs! I saw the paintings on the wall The knight in armour...standing tall I marvelled with renewed delight When fireplace brought forth fire light As I entered in the dining hall! And all the while... As I walked... I thought it really is a shock Just how familiar This old place seems! Perhaps I've seen it In my dreams? ! Through the library I did go And found such books That thrilled me so... So many favorite titles here... It seemed quite odd! Then...favorite chair! I found a diary...scented rose... I paused for moment... And reflected... on the fact That I reflected... NOT... In hallway mirror! Just how...could that be so? ? A tricked I guessed! In haunted house... At Halloween... Just a trick... It must have been!

I continued up the stairs Feeling apprehension growing here... This spooky place gave me the chills Uncanny really... How it thrills... I came upon a bedroom door I noticed stain upon the floor My feet wished not to enter in... To this room... And yet... Somehow...I knew I must... And soooo.... I slowly turned the knob Door opened slightly... And within I saw the candle light I saw the draperies I had chosen I saw the dresser...still complete With all my perfumes placed...just so... I knew now... That I had to know... Just why I had been beckoned here! And sooooo...I entered... With trepidation... Toe...by toe...I did go... Softly padding across the floor In bare feet? !

Sometimes...there can be justice... Even from that state of death All those who gathered Down below... They now know! I've told them so! 'Twas you who killed me... Not some stranger As you professed! ! 'Twas you! They've called me here to re-unite To bring me back... From other side... It was my wish... I'd written so! Perhaps I knew how I would go... I needed to let them know! Now every year...'round this time They all gather down below In dining hall... They gather, and hold hands, and... Call me back from beyond... That icy cold grave...where I rest... NOT! ! ! Now you.... You have a story to tell... You may try to explain...your hell Though I'm not certain they will listen To your whine! They think that You were... So distraught That with revolver... You forgot...about life... And ended it all... Right there in comfy chair! ! That is what they think! I for one... Will not correct them! Will not tell them... That one who loved ME and... Missed me soooo... Took your life! ! You had to go! ! ! It was... A foregone conclusion! ! Same time next year... my dear? ?

Wait! ! I do not want to go! ! ! Where are my shoes? ! I must leave this place! I panic and then become quite calm It's as if this is indeed... The very...very right thing... To do! ! I enter... And I see YOU there Resting easily...in your comfy chair At first I feel giddy! Happy at the thought Of seeing you this one last time... Before I go! But then I know! Ohhhh how I know! ! It all comes flooding back to me As I see the axe beside the bed... Our bed...that you and I once shared Until you tired of my love... And I became...'a leech' you said! And on that stormy Halloween When after row, quite unforeseen You took that axe and as I slept You sunk that axe...into my head! ! It all makes sense! It is quite clear! I know why I have been brought here! Before I realize... A scream escapes my throat And I in yet a final breath Scream out your name! !
